My name is Rick Retzer; I’m in my early thirties and live in Hollywood, Florida. The views on this website are mine alone, although I would suggest you subscribe to at least some of them. I would call myself a mild environmentalist. When I was a kid I drove my mom nuts shutting lights off every time I found a room empty. I changed all the incandescent bulbs in my apartment to compact fluorescents even though I don’t pay for electricity. It drives me nuts to watch someone wash dishes while leaving the water running. I don’t drive a hybrid so I guess that alone makes me not hardcore. I drive a Jetta, however, and make snide, self-righteous remarks about Hummer drivers as they blow by me.

Since the aviation industry has been in the news lately as a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, I should disclose that my day job is that of a marketing analyst for a manufacturer of commercial airplanes and business jets. Although I don’t do it often because of the cost, I am also a private pilot, a hobby some consider environmentally damaging.
